Trace Box: About the Project
Trace Box refers to all the 12 Picus Factory artisans who were involved in handcrafting and producing the boxes within the varying and specialised stages to create the boxes..."everyone left their trace."
"Richard Hutten's Trace Box can be used to store very special things. It consists of two boxes. The one on the outside is made of maple, but the one that exactly fits inside, is walnut. The personal character of every box is emphasized by traces that are left by the people who make it. Every worker has a personal graphic sign that she or he leaves on the contributed box part. Since they shift tasks during production, all boxes will be different." from "Pocket Furniture Droog Design for Picus"
Richard Hutten created a series of maple boxes with traditional functional extras in the lids which express their function. They are genuine reinterpretations of classical private containers and the Set of 2 Trace Boxes are especially crafted for your special objects and collectibles. In this Limited Edition of 1000 -- All boxes are different and each set is one of a kind.
Pocket Furniture for Picus is a design project by Studio Droog, developed for Picus. The project takes the wooden crate (box) as its starting point and explores how this humble, utilitarian object can be transformed into a versatile and playful furniture system.
This rare design object from 2001 was handcrafted in the Picus Factory in Eindhoven, Netherlands.
