Treebies are pairs of hand-painted blown glass baubles that look like two large eyes. With this accessory, the studio PlayLab, Inc. overturns the paradigm of Christmas tree decorations, giving them personality and releasing them from their classic role as a passive support, finally becoming a figure with its own life. Available in three versions each intentionally given a human name - Carol, Nick and Holly – they are surprising objects that involve those who put them on the tree and those who observe them, for an amusing and fresh exchange of glances.
The Christmas/Holiday tree has long played home to a variety of scenes and characters through decorative ornaments. With the Nick baubles, it becomes a character itself: larger-than-life eye ornaments that will turn your tree into that favourite family member that shows up at your house every holiday season. By adjusting the inclination, spacing and symmetry of the baubles, it is possible to vary the gaze the Christmas tree takes on, conveying a wide range of emotions.
