Product Overview

Kasa Japanese Wind Bell / Ogasawara Foundry

 Rikucho Ogasawara for Ogasawara Foundry

Cast Iron, Cord, Paper

(H 1.75" x Ø 2.25")

This wind bell made using the Nambu Ironware technique was designed by Rikucho Ogasawara, a caster born in Mizusawa, Iwate Prefecture Japan. Its timeless, simple shape and the beautiful sound it produces exemplifies all the qualities of the Nambu Wind Bell.

Wind bells are traditional Japanese products which are said to have been devised in the Muromachi Period, almost 660 years ago and since then wind bells are enjoyed throughout Japan in the Summer. When summer days are hot and humid--hearing the gentle sound of the bell's chime when there is a breeze gives one a feeling of coolness. Made in Japan.
